HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Southern Pine Electric Power Association hosted an energy efficiency fair Friday in Hattiesburg, just in time for the expected cooler fall weather.
The power company has been holding these fairs throughout their district offices this October to educate customers about how to save money on their power bills.
Southern Pine distributed items like door sweeps, window insulation kits and information about how to keep warm or cool air inside of customers homes.
Leif Munkel with Southern Pine Electric Power Association said this is an ideal time of year to think about energy efficiency measures.
According to Munkel, "We are looking at November and December and obviously the temperatures are going to start going down. And now is the time to start shoring up your house, getting it ready for the winter time so you will be prepared. Because often times we have a tendency to procrastinate and now is definitely the time to start thinking about it."
In addition to energy saving tips, the fair also provided details about the company's compact fluorescent light bulb recycling program.
