Moose Lodge donates stuffed animals to Lamar County Sheriff

LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - The Hattiesburg Moose Lodge Women's Chapter donated 5 dozen stuffed animals to the Lamar County Sheriff's Department Wednesday.

The Moose's are in the likeness of the lodge's mascot, Tommy Moose.

The stuffed moose's are placed in a sealed zip lock bag and carried in the department's patrol cars for deputies to use to comfort children at scenes of accidents or other incidents were children may be distraught. Sheriff Danny Rigel says the stuffed animal often helps to calm a child and put them more at ease with the deputy.

The Moose Lodge gives out the stuffed animals to a different charity or organization each year.

"We appreciate Lamar County and the services they provide to our community," said Audra Delancy, Senior Regent, Hattiesburg Moose Lodge, Women's Chapter. "We are just trying to give them a hand in helping our community and make a difference in our community."

Lamar County Deputies give out more than 200 stuffed animals to children each year.
