HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The folks at Southern Pines Animal Shelter were playing matchmaker at a local pub Thursday night, determined to unite some homeless pets with the perfect owners.
It was all part of the first, TAILS & ALES at the Keg and Barrel.
For a $20 donation, patrons got a t-shirt, a gift certificate and a chance to meet their "soul-mutt" face to face.
Organizers say the event was a great way for some dog lovers to begin a new friendship.
"This is a way to have the pets out in the community, meeting folks where they are, out socializing, having fun and seeing these pets out in a more normalized environment and just seeing what great pets we have," said Valerie Rachal, manager of research and development for the Southern Pines Animal Shelter.
10 dogs were available for adoption at tonight's event.
