Jones officials urge residents to inspect heaters

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM)- With nights getting colder, Jones County supervisors are urging residents to be careful when heating their homes.

Volunteer fire fighters are working with the same budget as last year.

Board President, Andy Dial, said several volunteer fire departments have paid off trucks which helps free up a little cash for fire fighters to purchase other equipment, but citizens can also help lighten the load off the firefighters.

"You know we have a lot more fires when we get into the cold season and the fact is, people need to clean their heaters and all that stuff out and get them blew before they start using them."
