SUMRALL, MS (WDAM) - Sumrall Recycling is preparing to increase the amount of material it processes hourly thanks to the addition of a new high tech piece of equipment.

A single stream recycling mechanism will make it easier to distinguish and process different types of recyclables like plastic and paper.

Currently, much of that work is done by hand and the facility is processing 1-1.5 tons of material an hour.

When the new system goes online October 4th, the system will process 10 to 12 tons of material hourly.

Sumrall Recycling representatives say the addition is in response to the ever growing popularity of recycling in the greater Pine Belt area. Poncho James is the company's Vice President of Corporate Recycling.

According to James, "So many industries and colleges and high schools are recycling now, they want to do it."

Sumrall Recycling services customers that are located within a 250 mile radius from the Pine Belt facility.
