Two shelter puppies get new lease on life thanks to Facebook

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Thanks to the kindness of two women, one from Hattiesburg and one from New York, two Lab mix breed puppies will soon have a new home.

Hattiesburg native Sherry Dole posted the pictures of 14 week old Ricky Bobby and Bunny to her facebook page after she was told the two were scheduled to be euthanized the following day because they had not yet been adopted.

With-in 30 minutes she heard from a woman in Howard Beach New York who told her she wanted to adopt one of the puppies. Later she heard back from the woman and was told her niece would take the other.

Through the help of donations, $400 was raised to pay for the cost of the flight to New York.

"I made a donation page for baby Bunny to help her get to New York," said Dole. "Some wonderful people in Hattiesburg donated enough money to get her on the plane to New York as well."

Ricky Bobby and Bunny flew out of Gulfport Tuesday morning to be united with their new families.
