HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Southern Miss senior place kicker Danny Hrapmann garnered a pair of awards Monday for his play last Saturday in the Golden Eagles' 30-24 victory at Virginia.
Hrapmann earned the Lou Groza Award "Star of Week" award, along with Brian Davis of Arkansas State and Ross Krautman of Syracuse, while also collecting the Conference USA Special Teams weekly award.
Hrapmann had an all-around solid performance against the Cavaliers in leading the Golden Eagle special teams.
In addition to converting three of four field goals (made 43, 35, 27), including two in the final quarter, Hrapmann also converted a fake punt deep in the Golden Eagle end and ran 31 yards for a first down.
He kicked off seven times for an average of 68.7 yards per kickoff and also notched one punt for 50 yards.
With his three field goals and 12 total points in the game, Hrapmann moved up in the Golden Eagle record books, now holding third place for kick scoring (196) and field goals made (38).
The C-USA honor was the second of Hrapmann's career – he collected one last season after kicking a school-record five field goals against East Carolina – and the third this season for the Golden Eagles in 2011.
Hrapmann, who was also one of the three finalists for the Lou Groza Award last fall, won the "Star of the Week" Award twice last season.
