HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Pine Grove Behavioral Health is welcoming a new four legged friend to it's ranks of employees named Tebow.
The chocolate Labrador Retriever's job will be detecting drugs to make sure the environment is a clean one for patients, their families and Pine Grove staff members. Tebow is aptly named after Denver Broncos football player, Tim Tebow.
Pine Grove has worked with a drug detection dog for many years and their previous main pooch, Samantha, is now enjoying a semi-retired lifestyle.
In addition to identifying drugs, Tebow will also be a good friend to those seeking treatment at Pine Grove. Debbie Sanford is Forrest General's Chief Behavioral Health Services Officer.
Sanford said, "And the amount of drugs that are brought into the facility has decreased greatly in having these dogs. And the patients just love them as they are going about doing their work. They just provide a lot of love and comfort to the patients."
Tebow is currently working on his obedience and search and find skills with his trainer. He will soon begin rounds seeking out drugs, alcohol and any prescription medications that are not allowed at Pine Grove.
