A Laurel native shares memories of his Honor Flight to D.C.

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - The Gulf Coast Honor Flight left earlier this week, taking nearly 90 World War II veterans to see a the memorial in Washington D.C. built in their honor.

Friday, Laurel native, Robert Polson said the trip is one he will never forget.

"When we got out to the World War II memorial there were bagpipes, about 15 people everyone of them playing bagpipes and they lead us to the Mississippi section of the WWII memorial," said Polson..."And when we got there Senator Wicker and Congressman Palazzo were there to greet us. It was just an exciting time."

Polson was the only Jones County veteran to take the trip this week.
