HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Lt. Governor and Republican gubernatorial candidate Phil Bryant made a campaign stop in Hattiesburg Wednesday, to visit a new, large manufacturing facility that he says he helped bring to Mississippi. Bryant took a tour of Stion, a manufacturer of high-efficiency solar panels.
That company will have its formal opening Friday.
Bryant's on the second day of what he calls his "Jobs Tour," and he's traveling with representatives of the Mississippi Manufacturers Association, one of the organizations which has endorsed Bryant.
"I remember the first day of the 2011 legislative session, passing the revolving loan fund initiative to bring Stion to Mississippi," Bryant said. Governor Barbour and I worked so hard, so this is a fitting place for us to be on our job creation tour," said Bryant.
Bryant says he and governor Barbour plan to attend that formal opening on Friday. Also expected to attend is Bryant's Democratic opponent in the November election, Hattiesburg mayor Johnny Dupree and U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis.
