JCJC prepares for their centennial celebration

ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) -  Jones County Junior College officials are making final preparations for a busy week that starts this Sunday to commemorate the school's one hundredth birthday.

The two year college will start celebrating this occasion on Sunday afternoon at the Student Center with cake and ice cream. On Wednesday morning, September 21st, the entire college will host a campus wide convocation to mark JCJC's long history.

Later that day at one PM, Jones Hall will be officially welcomed. That brand new building features plenty of classroom and office space for the growing campus. Caroline Ramagos, a Vice President with Jones County Junior College, is playing a key role in planning the centennial celebrations.

Ramagos explained the features of Jones Hall. She said, "It houses our social science division as well as our humanities division. Classes are already taking place in here and the students seem to really enjoy being in this environment.".

On Saturday, September 24th following a JCJC football game, the college will continue their celebration with a fireworks display.

The community is invited to participate in all of these events.
