HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Southern Miss's art collection now has a permanent home starting on Monday, so students and faculty members can enjoy the university's impressive works.
The gallery space is located right off the entranceway to Southern Miss's Cook Library by the Starbucks coffee shop.
Jan Siesling is the Coordinator of Events and Exhibits for the University's Libraries and he put together the exhibition.
Siesling said, "Because the university has a lot of beautiful things, but they are always in storage. And they can not be shown in the Museum of Art because they are regularly changing exhibitions all the time. And now we have a spot which is very central in the university."
It is free of charge to view the art, which includes prominent works from artists like Walter Anderson and a Picasso print. Featured with those pieces are the products of well known graduates of Southern Miss's Art and Design department.
Siesling explained he has been working to establish a permanent home for the university's artworks for the last two years.
