Choctaw's go to the polls to elect tribal chief

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Members of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians have been at the polls today to select a new tribal chief.

Phyliss Anderson defeated Beasley Denson in July, but that election was thrown out by the tribal council because of alleged irregularities in the June primary. This time around Anderson once again faces denson and a third challenger, Shirley Martin Berg. Should Anderson or Berg win the winner would become the first female elected to be the Choctaw Chief.

The polls remain open until 8:00 p.m.
