Marion County man arrested on charges of child pornography

MARION COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A Marion County man is behind bars today after being sentenced for possession of child pornography, announced Attorney General Jim Hood.

Timothy Anderson, age 50, of Colombia, appeared in Marion County Circuit Court before Judge Anthony A. Mozingo on Friday (September 2).  Anderson entered an open plea, meaning he threw himself upon the mercy of the court.  Judge Mozingo sentenced Anderson to ten years, with five years to serve behind bars.  He will have to register as a sex offender upon his release.

"As part of our continuing commitment to protect Mississippi children, I thank Judge Mozingo for putting another child pornographer behind bars," said Attorney General Jim Hood.  "Unfortunately, there are more to come."

Anderson was immediately taken into custody and will serve his time in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

Investigators with the Attorney General's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force worked this case, which was prosecuted by Special Assistant Attorney General Brandon Ogburn.
