Dixie man arrested, charged with four armed robberies

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - An inter-agency cooperative effort amongst the Forrest County Sheriff's department, Forrest General Department of Public Safety and Hattiesburg Police Department has resulted in the arrest of a local Dixie Community resident.

Michael Allen Thomas, 37, was arrested and formally charged by the Hattiesburg Police Department with four counts of armed robbery.

The recent robberies took place at the: CVS pharmacy on Hardy Street and Shell gas station on Lincoln Road, both on September 3; an Exxon gas station on Elks Lake Road on August 23 and Hampton Inn Hotel on Hardy Street on August 28. In each robbery, Thomas displayed a box cutter, except for the one on August 23, in which a kitchen knife was used.

An undetermined amount of medications were taken during the CVS robbery, while in the others, Thomas allegedly took an undetermined amount of currency. No one was injured during the four robberies.

Thomas, who is also being questioned by Forrest General Department of Public Safety Officials regarding a separate incident, was booked into the Forrest County Regional Jail late Sunday night.
