Over a dozen Laurel stores caught selling alcohol to a minor

LAUREL, MS (WDAM)- A week long Laurel Police sting busted 14 convenience stores and one liquor store for selling alcohol to a minor.

Officials say 14 clerks will be arrested and are facing a $348 fine if convicted. Plus, store owners may loss their license.

Laurel Police Sergeant, Michael Reaves said " What we did was target some of our businesses that sell alcohol and beer using a confidential informant who was under the age of 21. We were able to purchase beer at numerous businesses throughout the city that have beer permits to sell alcoholic beverages."

Police Chief Tyrone Stewart said more sting operations will take place in city from time to time.
