HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The two Democratic candidates for governor who went head-to-head in Tuesday's run-off election appeared together in Hattiesburg Saturday to show that their party is united for the November general election.
Hattiesburg mayor Johnny Dupree and Clarksdale attorney Bill Luckett stood side-by-side at a podium at a large unity rally at the Forrest County Multi-Purpose Center.
Dupree defeated Luckett in that run-off election just four days ago.
Luckett has now endorsed Dupree and the mayor says it's now time to focus on putting more Democrats into statewide and local offices.
"I think this is just a unifying moment for us, so we can all come together and understand that we are together, this is not a split campaign," said Dupree.
Dupree says since the run-off, he's campaigned in Marion County, Hinds County and along the Gulf Coast.
