Austin Simmons

Austin Simmons is a native of southeast Louisiana. He was born and raised in Mandeville, LA. After graduating from Mandeville High School in 2007, Austin attended The University of Southern Mississippi. He graduated from USM in 2011 with a degree in broadcast journalism.

Austin's love of sports started at a very young age. From playing little league baseball at 5 years old to watching the Saints on Sundays with his dad for as long as he can remember, sports have been a huge part of his life. Austin enjoys the competition and comradery that sports bring to everyone involved in them. He started his life in broadcasting as a board operator and commercial voice in Hammond, LA when he was in high school, and he has worked in radio and television ever since.

Some of Austin's favorite things are spending time with friends and family, sports, and his grandma's fried chicken.

    For the past two weekends, Florida Atlantic University left-hander Jake Miednik proved to be kryptonite to the Old Dominion University batting order. After shutting out the Owls for eight innings in the regular-season finale, Miednik tossed 7 1/3 innings of one-hit, shutout baseball Friday afternoon as third-seeded FAU stayed alive in the 2017 Conference USA Championship with a 6-2 victory over the second-seeded Monarchs.
