Southern Miss Football announces series with Boise State

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM)-  Southern Miss Director of Athletics Richard Giannini announced Wednesday that the Golden Eagles will play a home-and-home football series with Mountain West Conference member Boise State beginning with the 2012 season.

The two teams will play in Hattiesburg at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at Roberts Stadium on Oct. 6, 2012, and the Golden Eagles will travel to Bronco Stadium in Idaho on Sept. 28, 2013. The 2012 season will be the 100th-year anniversary of Southern Miss football.

"We are extremely happy to be able to continue our Boise State relationship with a home-and-home football series," said Giannini. "I know our fans will be excited about the series and adding another quality home game in 2012 to go along with a trip to Nebraska."

Heading into the 2011 season, the Broncos are ranked No. 7 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

The two schools will exchange $200,000 each season for their respective home games.

With the addition of Boise State to the schedule, Giannini also announced that the Golden Eagles have pushed back their Louisville home contest slated for Sept. 29, 2012, to an as of yet announced date for the 2013 season.
