Former McLaurin fire chief honored in ceremony

FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A former chief of Forrest County's McLaurin Volunteer Fire Department and another man who helped build that organization were honored Saturday morning.

Former chief Carl Dean was the guest of honor at a ceremony at the McLaurin fire station.

Dean retired recently as chief because of health reasons and served as a volunteer with the department for 21 years.

As a show of thanks, Dean was presented a fire chief's helmet, signed by fellow volunteers firefighters.

Also, the station was rededicated in honor of the late Ed Morgan, one of the men who helped organize the department in 1985.
