Alleged rapist extradited to Jones County

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM)- A man accused of  sexual assaulting  seven women has been extradited to Jones County.

According to authorities, United States Marshals extradited Miguel Oros from Mexico to the U.S. on August 3rd .Oros was then taken into custody late Wednesday evening by the Jones County Sheriff's Department In Gulfport.

Oros had been in the custody of the Mexican Government since May of 2010. He was indicted in October of 2009 for the sexual assaults  of five Jones County women dating back to 2005. Those assults were linked to assaults in Meridian and New Iberia, Louisiana.

Oros will be held in the Jones County jail pending trial.

A press conference will be held at 9 a.m.Thrusday to discuss details surrounding Oros' extradition.
