Tim Ryan and John Polk drum up election day support

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The race for State Senate District 44, has been a hot contest in this Primary election. The two Republican candidates vying for the nomination were busy on Tuesday securing last minute votes by area polling stations.

Tim Ryan is a small business owner who is the President and founder of Ryan Wealth Management, a financial advisory business in Hattiesburg.

"You today in my opinion is about the voters and the volunteers. We've got some wonderful volunteers who have been working really hard throughout the whole campaign for us, and they are out today in this heat. But they are excited about working hard and influencing the last moment voters," said Ryan.

Another business owner, John Polk is also running for the State Senate seat. Polk is the owner and operator of the family business, Polk's Meat Products. Both men were busy on this steamy election day drumming up support for their candidacy with volunteers across the district.

Polk explained, "I'll tell you what I'm enjoying is seeing the people getting involved. You know I think the things that are going on in Washington are beginning to affect Mississippi and people are saying I'm tiered of not doing something. And we are seeing people come out that I never dreamed would help with the campaign. And that has been exhilarating to me."

This primary election will determine whether Ryan or Polk will be the Republican candidate going into this November's general election.
