HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hattiesburg mayor and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Johnny Dupree was out bright and early Tuesday morning, to cast his vote in the primary election. Dupree and his wife, Johniece, voted downtown at the Hattiesburg Cultural Center about 8:30 a.m. Dupree is running against Clarksdale attorney Bill Luckett and 2 other candidates in the Democratic primary.
He says he'll spend election day campaigning.
"I'm glad that we're at this point that we get the opportunity to go forward, if that's what the people decide and they want to select us to do that and we hope that they do," said Dupree.
"I feel real good about everything that has taken place," said Johniece Dupree. "We've been all over this state. We've met a lot of people and we've done a lot of things," Dupree said.
After voting, the Duprees stopped by their campaign headquarters to make campaign calls.
