Airmen on 9/11 memorial march honored in Laurel

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - Veterans, police and county officials gathered in Laurel Saturday for a reception honoring some Air Force airmen who are marching to remember the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Four airmen from Hurlburt Field, Fla. were welcomed to the Veterans Memorial Museum.

They're taking part in the Security Forces 9/11 Ruck March to Remember.

That's a memorial walk from San Antonio, Texas to Ground Zero in New York that will end on September 11th, the 10th anniversary of the attacks.

The airmen are on the 5th leg of the journey, from Brookhaven, Miss. to Bollinger, Ala.

They're staying in Laurel Saturday night and hope to finish their part of the march by Monday.
