Former Southern Miss player headed to the NFL

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A former University of Southern Mississippi football player has signed with the NFL.

Ocean Springs native and former Southern Miss wide receiver DeAndre Brown signed a rookie undrafted free agent deal with the Philadelphia Eagles Tuesday.

Brown left USM early after his junior year to enter the draft but was not drafted. With the lockout ending, Tuesday at 9 a.m. teams were allowed to sign undrafted rookies.

Brown finished his career at Southern Miss with 133 catches for 2,186 yards and 24 touchdowns. The 2008 Conference USA Freshman of the Year ranks second all-time at Southern Miss in touchdown catches, third in receiving yards and fifth in receptions.
