Reward offered for arrest of animal cruelty suspect

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - An anonymous citizen has donated $1000 to Metro Crime Stoppers for tips leading to the arrest of the person caught on video dumping puppies off at the gate of the Southern Pines Animal Shelter.

The 11 puppies were tied to the fence using zip ties tightened around their necks and baling wire. They struggled to free themselves through out the night and suffered serious injuries. One died from the injuries and the others had to be euthanized.

Diane James from Metro Crime Stoppers says authorities are calling this one of the worst cases of animal cruelty in the metro area.

"I think the whole community is in shock," said James. "I've gotten several calls from people who love animals and they are just sick over this."

Anyone with information is asked to call the Hattiesburg Police Department or Metro Crime Stoppers at 601-582-stop.
