MARION COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - The congregation and many visitors packed the Bunker Hill Baptist Church in Marion County Sunday afternoon for a dedication service for their new sanctuary.
The church has a rich history going back about 130 years. The current congregation numbers about 300 members and it continues to grow. The new sanctuary holds about 460 people which will help to continue that growth.
Pastor Randy Gardner has led the congregation in worship since 2002. He says the church community is very diverse as they come from all around.
"I think the sanctuary gives us an opportunity to look with a shared vision for the church community, " said Gardner. "A place where people can come and feel loved. Jesus Christ is lifted up through our worship and as a result we hope we can continue to draw people to the Lord Jesus Christ."
William Carey University President Tommie King gave the dedication message.
