Southern Miss looks to tear down Elam Arms

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The University of Southern Miss is hoping to tear down the Elam Arms dormitory. Associate Vice President of Student Affairs, Sid Gonsoulin said, "It's considered to be in a prime location, for a developer to put a business. We have heard that it will be an excellent site for a hotel."

The building and surrounding parking areas sit within the northern portion of the new Mid-Town Hattiesburg project. So, University Officials hope to tear down the building and replace it with new commercial development.
