Jones County man arrested for alleged child molestation

PERRY CO., MS (WDAM)- A Jones County man is behind bars in Perry County after being arrested for alleged child molestation.

James Wayne Hogg, 27 of Ovett is charged with two counts of lustful touching of a 5 year old Richton girl. According to Perry County Sheriff Jimmy Daley Smith, Hogg and the girl are not related.

He says the arrest stems from a complaint they received on July 5th that the child had been molested.

"The child was interviewed Tuesday by the Hattiesburg forensics specialist in Hattiesburg and a statement was taken from the child," said Smith. "The Deputy and the District Attorney Investigated this case for us and we got a warrant to pick him up."

The Jones County Sheriff's Departments assisted in picking Hogg up. He's facing up to 15 years on each count and will make his initial appearance in court Thursday.
