Suspect arrested in priest murder

WAVELAND, MS (WDAM) - A Florida SWAT team arrested a Waveland man for the murder of a 70-year-old catholic priest.

Polk County Police arrested 32-year-old Jeremy Menieri, in connection with the death of Edward Everitt, who was found dead in his home in Waveland Monday afternoon.

Menieri, allegedly stole Everitt's vehicle and police were able to track the vehicle, using On Star, to a motel in Florida where Menieri was arrested.

Waveland Police Chief James Varnell said the suspect has an extensive criminal record and the murder of the priest is more than likely connected to robbery. Menieri, is being held in Polk county, Florida awaiting extradition to Mississippi.
