Benefit held for Moselle accident victim

MOSELLE, MS (WDAM) - A benefit was held Sunday for Janet Myrick at the Moselle Community Center to raise money for her medical costs and other expenses.

Myrick was the sole survivor in the May automobile accident on Highway 11 North in Moselle that claimed 5 lives, including her husband Bruce and 6 year old son Tommy. She was critically injured in the accident and spent several weeks in the hospital.

Sunday's benefit featured chicken and hamburger plates, face painting, a rummage sale, and a raffle.

"We knew the people in the accident. We were kin to one of them and I went to school with them," said Tammy Walters, Benefit Organizer. "It's a small town and we just wanted to help and help her financially, emotionally, physically, however we could."

Also killed in the accident were Joanna Martin and her two young children Timothy and Haley.
