Laurel father and son plead guilty to bribery

JACKSON, MS (US DEPT. OF JUSTICE) - A Laurel father and son have pleaded guilty in federal court today to attempting to bribe a former Mississippi Department of Transportation executive director in 2009.

Kenneth Biglane, 67, and Peter Biglane, 40, had been indicted in May of trying to bribe then executive director Butch Brown.

The FBI said the Biglanes wanted Brown to use his influence to gain a right-of-way contract for their company, Oxpatch Resources.

The biglanes will be sentenced on September 30th.

They each face a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
