Report reveals details of murder near Hattiesburg police station

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hattiesburg police continue to say they know little about what happened during a Sunday morning murder on James Street 200 yards from the police station despite a recently obtained police report which reveals the following details:

Librado Garcia, 29, was returning from a store at around 12:30 a.m. that night. Upon walking back to his apartment, he was approached by two black males demanding money and refused to give it up. He was shot, and the shooter fled. The first 911 call came in at 12:41 a.m. According to police report the first officer arrived at 12:46 a.m. Garcia was rushed to a local hospital that night where he was pronounced dead.

There are two stores within camera view of the apartment complex, but police will not say if those tapes have been pulled or viewed by the department.
