HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Thirteen has been a lucky number for a group of former students in a segregated Hattiesburg school system who are reuniting in the Hub City this weekend. Graduates from Hattiesburg's old Eureka, Royal Street and Rowan High Schools who are in the EURO organization are hosting a 13th reunion in Hattiesburg.
The event has included a sock hop, a ball and a luncheon.
"We didn't have a lot, we came from what they called, inferior schools," said Annie P. McGee, president of EURO. "But, we had superb teachers. We had excellent students and we were always taught that there's nothing you can't do, regardless of your circumstances," McGee said.
This year's reunion concludes with an athletic breakfast Sunday morning.
