The Oddfellows building is making it's mark

HATTIESBURG, MS. (WDAM) - The Historic Oddfellows building in downtown Hattiesburg has been undergoing extensive renovations over the last three years.

The work is now complete and the Hub City landmark is ready to host cultural events.

Charles Price, purchased the building and wanted the upgrades to preserve the structure's original purpose as a meeting space.

Three floors of the completely restored building can now display artworks and there is also reception and function space available.

Additionally, Price put an apartment in the building for when he wants to soak up the offerings of downtown Hattiesburg.

According to Price, "What we first discovered when we first looked at the building was a very historic building, built on open space. So rather than approach it from apartments, we decided to do a restoration of the building as it was."

Price said the Oddfellows building is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Oddfellows, a fraternal organization, met in the building until the late 1980's.
