Alleged Petal Panther thieves arrested

PETAL, MS (WDAM) - The alleged petal panther thieves have been caught. In fact, there are four of them.

Dylan Byrd 18,  Jordan Thrash 19, and Steven Ewing 19, were arrested Tuesday and charged with grand larceny. Also, Christian Lewis 17, is being charged as an adult for accessory after the fact of grand larceny.

Detective Mitch Nobles with The Petal Police Department said thanks to strong leads and metro crime stoppers tips, they were able to catch the alleged four panther statue thieves.

Nobles said, "Crimes like these were meant to be a prank but taking something that is valued at $30,000 is a little extreme. The Petal Police Department will not tolerate any type of vandalism to any school."

Nobles also said "After interviewing and speaking with the four gentleman, they all regret their actions that day and wish they would have picked another prank."

All four are being held in the Forrest County jail. Bond was set at $2,500 each.
