HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Southern Pines Animal Shelter has new management.
Lara Hudson came to Southern Pines Animal Shelter from Florida after the shelter's long time manager Ginny Cheatham and seven other employees left the shelter at the beginning of the year.
Hudson has been manager for five weeks, and says she chose Southern Pine's because she saw a great need and a also a great potential
"This very small animal shelter serves about 13 counties in this area. It is the only significant animal shelter in town that has an actual facility. So, we take in abut 9,000 animals a year, and to put that in perspective that is about twenty five to thirty cats and dogs every single day we are open. So, I really hope that people come in and look, and think about adoption before going out and buying a pet store dog. I knew I could help in that way," said Hudson.
