METAIRIE, La. (AP) - Saints outside linebacker Victor Butler, who was seen as a key free agent acquisition in 2013, has been included among eight cuts made by New Orleans as the club prepares to close out the preseason with a roster of 75 players. New Orleans brought in Butler from Dallas.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The physician who treated Jackson Prep football player Walker Wilbanks says the 17-year-old died of a severe loss of sodium that caused water to build up on his brain. Dr. Joe Pressler of the University of Mississippi Medical Center says the sodium-water imbalance caused Wilbanks' brain to swell, which led to his death.

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) - It's easy to lose Mississippi State's Jameon Lewis on the football field. At just 5-foot-9 and 187 pounds, he can often slice through creases in the defense or slip behind the offensive line undetected. And when that happens, the other team is usually in big trouble.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is a proud papa of new baby girl. Brees' wife, Brittany, gave birth Tuesday. Brees tweeted that his wife and baby girl are happy and healthy. The newest addition will be the sister of three young boys.
