COVINGTON CO., MS (WDAM) - On June 7, the Covington County Sheriff's department arrested a Hattiesburg man on various charges.
Police arrested Robert Daniel O'Neal for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a controlled substances, resisting arrest, reckless driving, and failure to yield to blue lights.
Police arrested O'Neal while conducting a routine security check of a Seminary Shell station at the intersection of Hwy. 49 and Hwy. 589. Deputies observed two parked vehicles at the Shell station after the business had been closed.
When police attempted to make contact with one of the drivers, O'Neal fled the scene. After a lengthy pursuit with the help of the Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Sumrall Police Department, O'Neal was apprehended.
O'Neal is currently being held at the Covington Co. Jail with a $175,000 bond.
