Hattiesburg doctor's hobby feeds the needy

FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A Hattiesburg doctor plans to donate his garden's above-average harvest this year to local charities.

Rick Conn, a surgeon at Southern Bone and Joint in Hattiesburg, has been farming since he was a teen. Each year, he donates his produce to local charities. This year, he increased the size of his half-acre garden in the Dixie Community and says he has more than he can handle.

He said Monday he will donate his corn, radishes, peas, squash, tomatoes and other vegetables to Christian Services, Edward's Street Fellowship and others.

Conn also gives away some of his produce to local restaurants and grocery stores.
