16 Annual Day Lily Show held at Lake Terrace Convention Center

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Lake Terrace Convention Center was the venue Saturday for the 16th Annual Day Lily Show.

The event is put on each year by the Hattiesburg Area Day Lily Society. More than 30 enthusiasts displayed their plant and were judged in several different categories.

Earl Watts of Hattiesburg was top winner. His flowers took top honors in more than 7 categories including best in show.

There was also a large plant sale and seminars on how to grow Day Lilies.

"There is peaks of blooming and re-blooming," said John Tibbits, Day Lily Show Chairman. "AT the end of May you may get one peak and another in mid June, then tapering on throughout the summer until the cold weather comes. It's a beautiful plant."

The Hattiesburg Day Lily Show is one of the largest in the country.
