HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - There is good news for The University of Southern Mississippi coming out of the bond package passed in the Legislature earlier this year.
Lieutenant Governor Phil Bryant said USM will get $28 million in bond proceeds, which will go towards construction on the new School of Business. Bryant said plans for the new addition which will be built next to the Trent Lott Center, have been in the works for at least a decade.
"I think you will see a change in the way South Mississippi now looks at Southern Miss," said Bryant. "We do a great Job with law enforcement officers, nurses and teachers, but now we are going to be producing CEO's, entrepreneurs, and business men and women."
Bryant feels Southern Miss will attract more in and out of state students to South Mississippi and in the long run create more investment opportunities.
