Anonymous person matches crime stoppers reward for Petal Panther

PETAL, MS (WDAM) - The bronze panther statue that was stolen from Petal High School turned up in a ditch near the Jones County-Perry County line, but investigators are still on the lookout for who stole it.

Friday a Jones County resident spotted it off Oil Well Road. One of the paws had been sawed-off.

Police still have no suspects and are reviewing surveillance video from the football stadium, where the statue was taken from.

An anonymous person, with no affiliation to Petal High School, has offered to match any reward that metro crime stoppers gives in finding the culprit.

If you have any information, please contact the Petal Police Department.
