Police say three Hattiesburg, Lamar County murders possibly linked

McCantz McCantz
Fleming Fleming

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hattiesburg Police said Thursday three murders in the last week may be linked.

Through the course of their investigation into the death of Edward Cameron, 42, who was shot at Collectors Point on Corrinne Street at around 4:45 p.m. Saturday, police discovered evidence which led them to believe at least one person in that incident is also involved in the double murder of Robert and Patsy Morrison.

Hattiesburg police handed this information over to the Lamar County Sheriff's department, who will continue the investigation.

Cameron was killed in an apparent robbery attempt. Drakkar Fleming and Gerald Taylor were arrested and charged with capital murder in that crime. Breiana McCantz of New Orleans was charged with accessory after fact.  The Morrisons were found beaten to death in their home Monday, May 23.

Fleming and McCantz have already had their bond set. Fleming at  $750,000 and McCantz at $150,000. Taylor was being held in a New Orleans jail and now has been returned to Hattiesburg. He is expected to make his initial appearance on Friday.

An additional charge of residential burglary has been added to the charges of Fleming and Taylor in connection to a burglary Saturday in the 400 block of 7th Avenue.
