Best of the Pine Belt 2011 contest announced in Hattiesburg

HATTIESBURG, MS. (WDAM) - Festival South and Signature Magazine have teamed up this year to present the "Best of the Pine Belt 2011."

The list is the result of a two month long online contest sponsored by the magazine, that gave people a chance to vote for their favorite Pine Belt businesses and local personalities. The winners are being unveiled in the June issue of Signature.

Additionally, the magazine is offering complete coverage of Festival South events. The festival, which starts on Saturday, is a two week long musical experience in Hattiesburg that features both free and ticketed performances.

Arts activities, a ballet and many other cultural offerings are part of the festival's second summer in the Hub City. David Gustafson is the Publisher of Signature Magazine.

According to Gustafson, "We are doing 104-pages in this issue of nothing but Festival South information. We've got the entire program, schedule of events, profiles on several of the performers. We've got a special profile in there about Dr. Dean. Just everything is in there about the festival, about places to eat, places to go out afterwards."

Festival South kicks off Saturday night at Hattiesburg's Saenger Theater with a musical tribute to composer, Andrew Lloyd Webber. To find out more information on Festival South events, check out festivalsouth.org.
