HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Hattiesburg Downtown Association toured the Golden Kite Golden Dreams exhibit during their monthly meeting Thursday.
The exhibit is a retrospective from 1974 to the present of the works of all the Golden Kite Award winners. The award is given annually to by the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators to recognize excellence in children's literature in four categories; fiction , non-fiction, text, and illustration.
"It is unbelievable," said Ellen Ruffin, curator of the de Grummond Collection at USM. "Many of them, parents, children, grandparents, authors, students, will recognize because they are very recognizable and significant books."
The exhibit is on display at the Odd Fellow Gallery through the end of June.
