HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Children's Center for Communication and Development at USM received a donation of $4552 Wednesday morning from the Hattiesburg-Sunrise Rotary Club.
Each year the club holds a 5k run/walk at the Long Leaf Trace to raise money for a charitable cause.
The money will be used to directly benefit the children and their families by providing therapeutic services.
"The money will pay for specialists, it will pay for physical therapists, and speech language pathologists," said Margaret Buttress Brinegar, Director of the Children's Center. "It will give our children services to reach their optimal potential so that we can send them off at the age of five to hopefully their local school districts."
This was the fourth year the Hattiesburg Rotary Club has held their 5k event to raise money for charity.
