LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A Lamar County library is hosting an exhibit of art by Russian and Ukrainian students who were inspired by stories from The Bible. An exhibit of nearly 2 dozen paintings at the Oak Grove Library is sponsored by the Kindness Foundation.
That organization teaches Christian morals and ethics to children in the Russian Federation.
The works were from a children's art competition from several years ago.
A reception for the exhibit was held Tuesday afternoon.
"They (students) had never seen illustrations of The Bible before," said Emily Prehn, who works with the Kindness Foundation in Hattiesburg. "So, all of these paintings just came out of the students understanding of The Bible and of The Bible stories," Prehn said.
The exhibit will run through the end of June.
