HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Hattiesburg Police Department has honored its top officers and civilian employees for outstanding service to the community. They received recognition during an annual Awards Day ceremony Friday morning at the Police and Fire Training Academy.
Among the officers honored was 3-year veteran Branden McLemore, who was named "Officer of the Year."
HPD's top civilian award went to crime scene technician Denise Ruple.
"We, very seldom, are able to give them recognition for the job that they do," said Hattiesburg police chief Frazier Bolton. "And it's also important to let the officer know that we do observe and notice what they do," Bolton said.
"I'd like to thank my fellow co-workers, I couldn't have done it without them and also, my family and friends, just the hard work and dedication from everybody," said officer Branden McLemore. "That's the way I was able to accomplish what I did," McLemore said.
Other officers were recognized for various individual and group achievements.
