COLLINS, MS (WDAM) - Two people are now in custody after being arrested after a shooting incident in Collins Thursday night.

Sheridan Davis, 31, of Long Beach and Markais Barfield, 27, of Laurel have each been charged with felony home invasion. Police officials did not deny early reports of shot fired at police. When asked if anyone was injured, police said no law enforcement were injured, but they refused to comment on the suspects.

Officials said the alleged invasion, which took place on Longino Avenue in Collins, led to an overnight search for the two suspects. One suspect was arrested at a Jr. Food Mart and the other was found hiding under a house.

Collins Police and other law agencies spent much of Thursday night and Friday morning looking for the suspects after officers were allegedly fired on while investigating a disturbance call.

Mississippi Bureau of Investigation was assisting with the case and say the investigation is ongoing.
